We started the week out with our community Solar Eclipse Watch party on the track. Thank you to Ms. Michael for her generous donation of glasses which allowed students, staff and our community to view the eclipse safely. We would like to give a shout out to our 8th grade students for their perseverance and cooperation during PSAT testing. Students followed the no electronic rule and we had no testing irregularities. All students will take the MSTEP test Tuesday April 16th. Students need to bring their district issued Chromebook to school fully charged. We know we can have another smooth day of testing like this past Thursday.

Wayne-Westland Community Schools is hosting a 3v3 basketball tournament for grades 4-12 on May 11 at John Glenn High School!
- $25 per player
- Coed teams
- 4 players per team
- Half-court game format
- 3 game minimum
- Must be enrolled in Wayne-Westland Community Schools
- April 8th: Solar eclipse community viewing starting at 2:50pm on the track field.
- April 9th: PSAT 8th grade only. Virtual learning for 6th and 7th grade students.

We have some exciting things happening this week. March 19th we will hold our 8th grade parent meeting and our Family Engagement night (Parent University) starting at 5pm. March 20th our 8th grade students will take a walk over to HYPE for the Discover your path field trip. We will close out the week with our PBIS incentive with our staff verses student basketball game.
Reminder: 8th grade field trip money for the Holocaust museum is due March 22nd. The field trip is $8.

I hope every one is adjusting smoothly to the time change as we embrace the longer, brighter days of spring. As we transition into Spring, we want to keep you all in the loop with some important updates and upcoming events concerning Spring sports, school events and 8th grade activities.
Starting Monday March 11th we are moving to no passes during 4th hour. Students are encouraged to use the restroom before or after 4th hour. We are focusing on decreasing the amounts of students roaming the halls during this period. Students that have lunch must remain in the lunchroom. Students that are in class must remain in class. We appreciate your support in helping us ensure students are in their assigned areas during the busiest school hour.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable winter break. Please see below for important updates about the upcoming week. We are excited to welcome Lauren Robinson to Franklin as the band and orchestra teacher. She is transferring from within Wayne-Westland. She previously taught at Elliott and Edison elementary.

Winter Recess: School is closed February 19th-23rd. Students and Staff do not report to school during this week.
After School Sports: Please see the schedule below for after school sporting events. Students have the opportunity to use PBIS points to purchase their ticket to the event during lunch. Please discuss permission to attend these events with your student BEFORE school - they will not be permitted to come to the office to call home for permission.
Green Out Day: Wednesday, February 14, 2024, we invite students and staff to participate in a Green Out as we commemorate the one-year anniversary of the passing of former Franklin Middle School student, Jacob Dawson-Escobedo. Additionally, there will be a moment of silence observed during our morning announcements.

Free Breakfast: Breakfast doors open at 7:20am! We encourage students to come in for FREE breakfast. As a reminder, please do not drop students off before 7:20am - prior to this time they will have to wait outside, no matter the weather.
